Urban Decay – Naked Palette: FOTD

urbandecayFor some time I’ve been planning a look using the original Urban Decay Naked Palette. I finally gave in to the hype after having purchased the Naked 2 Palette over two years ago I knew I had to get its warmer toned big sister as it really did have my name written all over it. I created this super simple look that I think would work brilliantly for Christmas Day. It’s slightly smoky, slightly shimmery but works well day or night!

Base

Firstly I started off by mixing a small amount of the NARS Luminous Weightless Foundation (Ceylan) with L’Oreal True Match Foundation (NC30) to give me a healthy satin look on the skin. It builds to a medium coverage which works well for me! Next I used the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (01 Fair) under the eyes and down the bridge of the nose and used my Real Techniques Sculpting brush to blend – super fast and super easy.

Eyes

Next on to the main event! I popped a small amount of the shade Half Baked all over the lid for a sepia wash of pale gold. Next I took the shade Busted on a fluffy blending brush and placed this into the outer-v. Lastly I used the shade Buck to blend out the crease for a nice soft and smoky finish and took a little of the shade Virgin under my brow to highlight. I finished the eyes with a small amount of the Gosh Forever Eyeshadow Stick in Light Copper on the lower lash line and a coat or two of my Maybelline Colossal Mascara in Black for fluttery defined lashes.

Finish

On the skin I popped on the Soap and Glory Solar Powder Bronzer for a healthy glow and for a little definition. I also applied a small amount of the MAC Mineralise Blush in Warm Soul for a ‘just flushed’ glowy look. This is one that I’ve recently discovered and am really enjoying!

Lips

On the lip I got a little stuck, so I opted for a simple nude in the form of MAC Entwined – it’s now discontinued but Hug Me by MAC is also very similar.

Christmas Party Makeup; Ravishing Red

redtonedeye2There’s some great beauty trends at this time of year and one that I’ve seen regularly featured on celebrities and in fashion magazines is a red-toned eye. This is pretty tricky to pull off but with a good amount of blending and the right reddish tone you can create a stunning look which really makes pale eyes pop! For me this makeup would be perfect for a Christmas Party or even for New Year’s Eve however I’ve been really inspired by the stunning range of lingerie by Adore Me. I think this peachy/orange toned set is super feminine without being typically girly and I think this red-orange toned eye and muted peach lip would really suit it…

Base

I started off by using the NARS Luminous Weightless Foundation (shade Ceylan). I’ll be doing a full review on this later this week however it gives a great satin full coverage finish and you only need the tiniest adoremeamount of product. I apply this using a large buffing brush for a flawless look. Next I used the MAC Select Cover Up (shade NC20) under the eyes and down the t-zone to highlight. I then applied the Maybelline Fit Me powder (shade 120) to set my concealer.

Eyes

On the eyes I started out by using the Colour Pop Super Shock Eyeshadow in Sequin all over the lid which is a beautiful copper-bronze. I used a small synthetic brush to apply a decent amount over the mobile lid, I then used a tiny amount of the shade Boy Band which is a deep red-bronze in the outer v to add depth, I also smudged a small amount of this into the lower lash line. Next I took a clean crease brush from redtonedeyeCrown Cosmetics and blended out the crease, using the same brush I went in with a neutral matte cream-taupe from the Freedom Cosmetics Secret Rose palette to give the crease a bit of dimension. I then finished with a small amount of the lightest cream matte shade under the brow bone.

Finish

Next I took my 2true Matte Bronzer in Natural Bronze down the cheekbones, temples and around the jaw line for a natural slightly contoured look. I then moved on and applied the Kiko Baked Blusher in 01 Pink to the high points of my cheeks. This gives a coral-pink flush which really reflects the delicate coral-peach of the Adore Me set! I finished the skin with a tiny amount of The Balm’s Mary-Louimaniser for added golden festive glow.

Lips

Last but by no means least I used the L’Oréal Infallible Lip Liner in Nude 809 for a brown-peach nude hue. I completed the look by using the Colour Pop Lippy Stick in Brink for a matte nude lip which throws a stunning peach/brown shade.

Let me know what products you’d wear to compliment this stunning set from Adore Me…

Australian Beauty Swap

01So for some time myself and Karina from (Karina Bud Blog) have kept in touch since our initial beauty swap in June which you can read all about HERE. I can’t quite believe how quickly time has passed but no sooner had our first swap taken place we were already planning our second. Karina was keen to try some products from Kiko which is largely only available in Europe and the USA and when they arrived it was the hardest thing not to tear the box open and swatch every single thing. Luckily for her though I didn’t and you can read the review on the bits I sent her HERE.

I’d wanted to get hold of a few things from US beauty brand Colour Pop for some time. Bizarrely they don’t ship out of the USA other than to Australia meaning luckily Karina could pick up the things I was after. She also very kindly sent me some other things for me to try…04

Firstly I was really pleased to receive 5 of the Colour Shock Eye Shadows which are a great spongy cream formula. I was absolutely in love with the MAC Electric Cool Eyeshadows which have a very similar formula however only tend to get released in limited collections, so I was super pleased to get my mitts on these. The 5 shades I went for were…

LA LA – A stunning rose gold/copper tone with a tonne of shimmery metallic pigment.

06Nillionaire – One of the shades which has become famous amongst Colour Pop fans is this stunning gunmetal bronze. I genuinely think this would suit anyone as it almost has a petrol like finish.

Sequin – Again a ‘famous’ Colour Pop shade this is copper at its finest. It makes for a stunning lid shade with a flick of black liquid liner.

Boy Band – A deep brown metallic which glides onto the lids and is brilliant for making an impact or for the base of a smoky eye.

So Quiche – This is a great taupe shade with lilac mauve glitter pigments. I recently wore this with MAC’s Satin Taupe eyeshadow and got so many compliments.

Next Karina was kind enough to pick me up 4 of their Lippy Stick lipsticks. These are brilliantly pigmented high voltage colours in a vast range of shades and finishes…02

LBB – A true berry shade, this matte lipstick is Christmas in a tube. I know I’ll get plenty of wear out of it in the next few weeks for parties and nights out.

Frida – This is a stunning coral which I probably won’t get too much wear out of until the spring however it’s cool creamy tone would suit so many people.

Brink – The ‘Kylie Jenner’ lip this is a great nude tone even on us fair girls. It’s nice and matte and wears brilliantly for a nude lipstick.

07Lumier – Probably my favourite of the four this is a mid-tone pink which looks great with a smoky eye. It’s matte and looks beautiful alone or even with a little lip balm for more of a day-time look.

Now this is a true testament to how well Karina has got to know my tastes over our last two make-up swaps. She picked me up 4 other products which I absolutely L.O.V.E!

Savvy Long Lasting Matte Lipstick in Bali

This is a stunning berry/fuchsia it’s more pink than the colour pop shade but I’ve already worn it and it’s genuinely one of the most comfortable matte lipsticks I’ve ever tried. It applies really evenly and was super creamy!

NYX Butter Lipstick in Pops Explosif05

This is a great pink/mauve nude which I’ve already worn twice this week! For me it’s pretty much the perfect nude, I’ve reached for this for work on a few occasions and I’m really impressed by the balm-like feeling this leaves on the lips. I’m really keen to try more in this range!

Savvy Nourishing Lip Liner in Chestnut

This is a great nude shade which goes with so many of the lipsticks in this swap. I’ve been really liking it with Colour Pop’s Brink lipstick for a 90’s nude lip. I also think this would look great alone with a little lip balm on top for comfort.

03Chi Chi Cosmetics Glamorous Bronzes Eyeshadow Palette

Very kindly Karina sent me this beautiful eyeshadow palette which is right up my alley. It’s has a really versatile range of warm bronze and shimmery shadows which really compliment the Colour Pop shades she picked up for me. I’d never heard of Chi Chi cosmetics so if you guys have any recommendations for future purchases please leave them in the comments…

Karina also sent me a really sweet card and note book which I’ve kept in my handbag, it’s so pretty and makes my supermarket shopping lists far more glamorous. As always I’d like to thank Karina for being so kind as to do this swap, she’s an brilliant blogger and though we’ve never met in person she has incredible taste in makeup and is a such a sweet and generous person so do check out her brilliant blog!
