In this bleak weather the UK is experiencing I was keen to come up with an easy makeup that made me feel like the sunshine may return to our little island at some point this year. The look is super simple and would work for all ages and skin tones (obviously with the appropriately shaded base products) and will give even the dullest of complexions some life!
Firstly, I started with a rich moisturiser – Clarins Hydraquench Cream, this one is brilliant for normal/combination to dry skins. It’s super simple and doesn’t break out anyone (that I know of). Next, I applied the Laura Mercier – Hydrating Primer, this is the glue that sticks your foundation and moisturiser together to give a flawless glowy base. Again, I feel like this works for most skin types and rarely speak to anyone who doesn’t get on with it!
Then I applied the Eve Lom – Sheer Radiance Oil Free Foundation with a buffing brush, the name of this product truly baffles me as I find it to be medium/full coverage. I also find it to give some serious glow, good on them for doing this whilst remaining an oil free formula though! I used a small amount and really sheered it out. Finally, for my base I used the Rimmel – Wake Me Up Concealer, I’ve been really liking this lately as the shade Ivory is a nice neutral tone and is a thin, blendable formula which doesn’t seem to go cakey. The only issue is that I don’t think skin tones lighter than mine would be able to wear it as Ivory isn’t all that pale.
For the eyes I primed using the Laura Mercier – Eye Basics Eye Primer, I simply apply a small amount on my ring finger and pat it over the lid. Next, I used the Morphe 350 palette and applied a pale peach shade into the crease with a fluffy brush. Next, I used the champagne pressed pigment and patted this onto the mobile lid.
I then applied a little of the Laura Mercier – Caviar Stick in Cocoa along the lower lash line and smudged it out with a pencil brush. Finally, I applied a generous coat of the Lancôme – Hypnôse Mascara in Black. This stuff is my new favourite mascara and gives full fluffy thick lashes without clumping.
On the lips (and especially in this cold weather) the only think that felt appropriate was a bit of tinted lip balm. I used the Burts Bee’s – Tinted Lip Balm in Rose!
To finish the skin (and keep the glow) I dusted my face using the Wet N’ Wild Bronzer with SPF 15 – in Reserve your Cabana, this is more of a glowy setting powder, I use it all over the face. Next I apply the Bobbi Brown – Bronzing Powder in Golden Light, its matte but gives a nice soft focus finish.
